Ag Commissioner Visits Nicholls Farm

Beneath today’s sun, the state commissioner of agriculture strolled through some of the work being done to grow plants to save the coast during a tour of Nicholls State University’s farm. Mike Strain, Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry commissioner, pointed to the farm’s young salt-resistant cypress trees, redevelopment of endangered live oaks and growth of various grasses as “a huge deal” for repopulating the coast.
