Wheat and Cover Crop Field Day Planned for April 12th

The LSU AgCenter will sponsor a wheat and cover crop field day at the Macon Ridge Research Station in Winnsboro April 12th from 8:30 to 12:30.

Indoor presentations will begin at 9 with welcoming remarks from Drs. Melissa Cater and Rogers Leonard followed by James Hendrix discussing whether or not cover crops will fit producers production systems.

Field tours are slated to get underway at 9:30 with topics including insect issues in wheat production with Dr. Sebe Brown; cover crops and cover crop termination from Dr. Josh Copes; Dr. Lisa discussing soil health following cover crops and nitrogen rates in a conservation tillage corn program; Dr. Steve Harrision conducting a wheat breeding nursery tour; wheat disease and production update from Dr. Boyd Padgett and OVT management discussed by Dr. Trey Price.
