The Louisiana Farm Bureau Federation's Hay Clearinghouse is currently active for those flood affected livestock owners who need hay to feed cattle or horses, those who have hay to donate, or can volunteer to haul hay to affected areas of the state.
"The purpose of the LFBF Hay Clearinghouse is to match those who have hay with those who need it," said Clearinghouse coordinator Carey Martin. "If you can haul a load of hay, that is our biggest need in a disaster like this."
In the north Louisiana flooding this spring, Martin said thousands of bales were donated, but there was a severe lack of transportation and much of that hay could not get to those who needed it.
The LFBF Hay Clearinghouse is hosted on the website VoiceofLouisianaAgriculture.org. After accessing the site, click the "Hay Clearinghouse" link at the top of the page.
