Poultry Disease Detected in California – Commissioner Strain Urges Poultry Owners to Maintain Biosecurity

BATON ROUGE – Louisiana Agriculture and Forestry Commissioner Mike Strain, D.V.M., is reminding poultry owners to maintain biosecurity following the recent detection of virulent Newcastle disease (vND) in a California commercial poultry flock. The case was confirmed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS).
