Texas A&M Professor to Speak at Sugarcane Industry Annual Meeing

Joe Outlaw, Texas A&M's co-director of the Agriculture and Food Policy Center, is the featured speaker at the general session of the American Sugar Cane League's February 6 annual meeting at the Crowne Plaza Baton Rouge Hotel, 4728 Constitution Avenue. The general session is expected to begin at 10:15 a.m.   

In his role as a food and agriculture policy expert, Dr. Outlaw has frequent contact with Congressional members and Agriculture Committee staff members and provides assessment of agricultural policy to the national leadership. He is also the university's Regents Professor and extension economist.

Dr. Outlaw will be addressing the attacks on American agricultural policy and the farm bill. Specifically, his talk is titled "Countering Misguided Ideological Attacks on American Agricultural Policy."

The American Sugar Cane League of the U.S.A., Inc. is a non-profit organization of Louisiana sugarcane growers and processors dedicated to supporting the Louisiana sugar industry through research, legislation, product promotion, education and public relations.
