Grants for Graduate Students Conducting Applied Research on Honey Bees

Following several years of “Save the Honey Bee” license plate fee collections in Louisiana, the Louisiana Beekeepers Association and USDA Bee Lab in Baton Rouge have ample funding to award applied honey bee research grants for later this year.

We are welcoming graduate student research proposals for this grant funding.  Grant funds may be requested and used for project-related needs such as research supplies, purchase or rental of equipment, and travel.  There will be one or several grants totaling $5,000 potentially awarded in December 2017.

Deadline for applicant proposals for this research funding is October 15, 2017.  A five-person panel of LBA board members and USDA Bee Lab scientists will be reviewing grant applicant proposals and making decisions.

Please contact Dr. Steve Payne, LBA Secretary, for the RFP (Request for Proposals) and details on grant application at steve@labeekeepers.org.
