USDA Lowers Sugarcane Yield Outlook, Raises Import Forecast

NEW YORK - The U.S. Department of Agriculture lowered its U.S. sugarcane output forecast slightly for the 2017/18 marketing year on Thursday, citing losses in Florida from Hurricane Irma. The USDA boosted its Louisiana cane sugar production forecast for the marketing year by 64,000 short tons to 1.690 million, based on an increased harvest and yield expectations.
