Louisiana Soybean Board Keeps a Lot on Its Plate

by Don Molino

The Louisiana Soybean and Grain Research and Promotion Board funds projects for researchers working on areas that will benefit  soybean and grain producers across Louisiana.

LSU AgCenter Associate Vice-President, Dr. Rogers Leonard points out research doesn’t stop after the soybean and grain crops have been harvested.

“The research projects go on year ‘round.  They include both laboratory projects that are on-going right now which will continue into the net planting season.  And much of that work will be translated into field projects for verification of the new tools and techniques that were studied in the lab. “

Leonard says during their annual meeting, the board heard 52 presentations on continuing projects the board funded for 2016. “That was a review of that work to meet the quality standards of the board. And in addition (the board) had 10 new projects proposed for 2017.”
