Northeast Louisiana Rice Field Day This Week

Keith Collins, County Agent for Richland Parish, reports the northeast Louisiana rice field day will be Wednesday, July 13, just east of Oak Ridge at Vic Jordan's farm, Trio Plantation.

The field day will kick off at 9AM with speakers from the LSU AgCenter's Rouse Caffey Rice Research Station in Crowley including Drs. Steve Linscomb, Dustin Harrell, Don Groth and Eric Webster.

Topics scheduled to be discussed include rice varieties, fertility, diseases/fungicides and weed control and new herbicides.

At 11 o'clock the field day will move to the Rayville Civic Center with an update on soybean insect and diseases plus a presentation from Peter Bachman with the USA Rice Federation.
