AgCenter Helps Produce Growers Develop Food Safety Plans

FRANKLINTON, La. – Produce growers from the Florida Parishes area got help from experts writing on-farm food safety plans, one of the most important steps toward preventing contamination, at a workshop held May 26 and 27.

A cold winter meant a slow start to this year's crawfish season, but warmer weather has spurred both growth and the number of crawfish being caught. LSU AgCenter correspondent Craig Gautreaux has this report.

Louisiana corn farmers are finally getting to plant some significant acres as drier conditions have finally arrived. But is it too late for some? LSU AgCenter correspondent Craig Gautreaux has the story.

Two icons in Louisiana agriculture were recently inducted into the state's Agriculture Hall of Distinction. Margie Yates Jenkins, a nursery owner from Amite, and Pierre "Pete" Lanaux, a sugarcane farmer from Edgard, were recognized for their lifelong dedication and contributions to the agriculture community. LSU AgCenter correspondent Craig Gautreaux has the story.
