President Obama's budget proposes to cut $18 billion from the federal crop insurance program over the next ten years. Louisiana Commissioner of Agriculture and Forestry Dr. Mike Strain believes that's a bad move.
"This is unacceptable," said Strain in his daily radio address, which can be heard on this website. "Crop insurance is vital to the continued prosperity of American agriculture."
"Without crop insurance you can't participate in disaster programs, and if you have a bad year you are out of business," Strain added.
