The LSU AgCenter will offer three food safety training programs in January on industry regulations and steps food processors can take to prevent contamination.
The workshops will feature presentations from AgCenter School of Nutrition and Food Sciences faculty and experts from other organizations.
The first program, Better Process Control School, is set for Jan. 9 to 12. Attendees who complete the course will be certified as supervisors of thermal processing systems, acidification and container closure evaluation programs for low-acid and acidified canned foods. Registration is $850 before Dec. 22 and $875 after that date.
Another workshop, Sanitation Control Procedures for Fish and Fishery Products, will be held on Jan. 23. It will focus on good sanitation practices for the seafood industry. Registration is $150 before Jan. 10 and $175 thereafter.
The third program, Basic Seafood Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), will be held Jan. 24 to 26. This type of training, which helps participants develop HACCP plans for their operations, is required for seafood processors under federal law. Registration costs $300 before Jan. 10 and $325 after.
Registration includes course materials, certificates and lunches. The workshops will be held at Efferson Hall on the LSU campus.
